Dance, drama & singing – discover the magic of performance
As well as helping to keep your child fit, dance is a fantastic way for your child to gain confidence, explore their own creativity, learn something knew and - above all - enjoy themselves!
At Stagecoach dance is a key element to our classes. Unlike some dancing schools your child doesn't have to be an expert dancer to attend Stagecoach, and no matter what their previous experience or abilities have been, the emphasis at Stagecoach is on building confidence and enjoyment. Our teachers, who are experts in their field, are used to working with students of all ages and skills.
Unlike traditional dance schools that tend to specialise in one form of dance, Stagecoach gives students an all round training that dancing schools usually lack. Whether your child is already an accomplished dancer and looking to extend their abilities, or new to dance and keen to learn, Stagecoach can encourage their interest, improve their proficiency and stretch their imaginations.
Dance is a valuable performing skill to have, not just for those considering a career in performance. As well as being a great deal of fun, learning to dance can be a useful way to maintain your child's fitness levels. Although it shouldn't be a replacement for regular exercise and a sensible diet, dancing remains an extremely enjoyable way to keep healthy.
Although dance is a hugely important part of Stagecoach classes, Stagecoach is not a regular dance school principally because, as part of our successful format, all students will also participate in drama and singing at their Stagecoach school. Dance and these two other complementary performing skills give children confidence and poise, they allow them to use their imaginations and they improve their communication. So while the performing skills developed through these three disciplines can be used as preparation for a performing career, they are equally important as skills for life.
This makes Stagecoach classes different from those at dance schools. Whereas at a dance school students would often be expected to concentrate on one type of dance and take lessons specific to that field, at Stagecoach our students experience and learn a wide variety of dancing styles: this can encompass everything from modern dance, musical theatre to jazz and street dancing. Having a more open and creative view of dance through these sessions, our students are able to exercise their imaginations in a way that may not be possible at a regular dance school.
Dancing schools often have large classes of students, but because the size of our classes at Stagecoach are limited to fifteen students, each class strikes an effective balance between individual tutoring and group work. This student / teacher ratio means that students get a level of personal supervision that they may not receive at other dance schools. However, as well as developing and improving on their own individual skills, students at Stagecoach also learn the valuable skill of working together in a larger group. As a great deal off dance work is about collaboration, this is a vital skill to acquire and it will stand any child in good stead - in the world of performing arts and beyond.
