StageCoach Theatre Arts Portland student Amber Mitchell, aged 13, raises $8,000 for World Vision charity by hosting and performing in a special charity event in Lake Oswego. Amber organized "My World Vision - A Benefit Concert" on April 9 at Lake Oswego's Christian City Church with all proceeds going to World Vision.
"I'm hoping to raise $2,000 for World Vision," Amber said. "I've grown up with my family telling me all about World Vision, and right now we are sponsoring two children in Zambia. I very much believe in all that World Vision does...I am helping them make a difference."
The headliner at her own concert, Amber also carries the roles of producer, promoter and ticket seller.
"I am the main 'act,' I guess you could say," Amber said. "However, I shall have a guest star named John Ellingsen - an amazing performer. My little sister, Mia, will be doing a small duet with me. Also there will be a surprise number in which several children from StageCoach Theatre Arts Schools will take part."
"I've received $1,000 in donations. Plus, I've already received a matching gift of $3,000 from Kevan and Diane Hall; this is an extremely good start," Amber said before the event.
The total tally was an amazing $8,000 raised! Well done Amber on this amazing achievement.
