Meet our teachers
Principal - Liz McAllister - MAED, BFA Theatre
Liz has been the Principal of the StageCoach Theatre Arts School in St. Paul since 2002. A native New Yorker, Liz is a graduate of the Performing Arts Conservatory at the College of Purchase in NY where she earned her BFA . She then continued her theatre training and performing in NY adding television to her list of credits.
Liz moved to MN in 1991 and began her stage career performing on the Ordway McKnight Stage, with the Illusion Theatre, The Red Eye Collaborative and the Fringe Festival. At the same time Liz began teaching theatre to young people and was hired as the Drama Teacher to City Academy, the nation's first charter school. While at City, Liz achieved her teaching license certificate in Theatre and Dance and gained her Masters in Education. Liz is currently the Drama teacher at Minnetonka Middle School East.
Liz is married to the Co- Founder of the US StageCoach schools, Simon McAllister and has two wonderful boys, Charlie and Liam.
Liz was named StageCoach Franchisee of the Year in 2010.
Dance Coach - Trudy Monette - BA
Trudy has a Bachelors Degree in Theatre, and has been teaching dance and theatre to young students for over twenty years. As well as her work at various schools and theatres in Texas and Nebraska Trudy has worked in the Twin Cities with Project Success, Stepping Stone Theatre, Children's Theatre Company, Minneapolis Kids, North and South High Schools, Macalester College and Hamline University. She has choreographed a number of shows including a production of Grease which earned her a 'Best Choreography' nomination. Trudy has appeared on stage at Penumbra, Mixed Blood, Stages and Illusion Theatres. She has toured with National Theatre for Children, Historical Perspectives for Children and the Sounds of Blackness. Trudy loves teaching for StageCoach and can't wait until her son Keenan is old enough to start early stages!
Singing Coach - Beth Swanberg - BM; Masters in Music
Beth Swanberg has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Augsburg College and a Masters in Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota. Besides teaching for StageCoach from its inception in 1997 until 2003, she has taught and directed music in churches and synagogues, taught private voice lessons at Armstrong High School and The University of Minnesota and taught Music in Robbinsdale and Minnetonka School districts. Her directing credits include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Pirates of Penzance, The Wizard of Oz, When Silents Was Golden, Annie, Castaways, The Legend of Polar Mountain and others. Performance credits include Little Women, The Marriage of Figaro, Die Zauberflote, Cosi Fan Tutte and Moonlight on a Midnight Stream. Beth is very happy to have another opportunity to work with the great students and staff at StageCoach!
Drama Coach - Tami Provencher - BA
Tami has been a working actor/director/dancer/choreographer and theatre educator in the Twin Cities for more than 20 years. She toured as an Actor, Stage Manager and Actor-Educator with a local children's theatre company. She then became a dance and theatre artist-in-residence with SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development.
She has taught/directed multiple residencies in acting, dance and stagecraft, as well as violence prevention/intervention and teacher workshops designed to help teachers incorporate theatre into their classrooms. Concurrently she coached the Varsity Dance Teams in Eagan, then Irondale High School.
In addition to teaching and directing at StageCoach, she directs and choreographs for schools in the Twin Cities and is choreographing productions with Morris Park Players in Minneapolis.
Early Stages Coach - Stephanie Stockton - BA
Stephanie studied dance as a child and continued her education with many teachers throughout the United States and Europe and has taught dance to thousands of students of all ages and abilities during her career. She is a graduate of the U of M with a degree in Communications and Child Psychology. Performing credits include; the Edgewater Inn, Chanhassen Dinner Theater, Diamond Jim's, the Starlight Theater in the Badlands of North Dakota and the Edgewater Reunion shows in Bayfield, Wisconsin and Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis
